DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

The Department of Botany strives to distinguish itself in various teaching and research fields of the undergraduate course. The department establishes, maintains, and disseminates fundamental plant biology knowledge and provides leadership in the biological sciences, producing the best plant sciences human resources and helping them realise their full potential for society. The department's affable and encouraging demeanour fosters an atmosphere conducive to learning.

Objectives

·        To impart knowledge of the classification scope of plant diversity to comprehend environmental taxonomy.

·        To instruct the utilisation of plants for human benefit in terms of their economic value.

·        To provide a student-centred, profession-focused, multidisciplinary higher education in a natural investigation environment.

·        To teach students scientific methods, skills, and attitudes to understand all aspects of plant life.

·        To teach students about experimental methods and how to use them by giving them hands-on experience.

·        To impart training to students in new areas of plant science by promoting critical thinking, reasoning and discussion.

·        To advance the fundamental knowledge of plant sciences through innovation for societal and national benefit.
