The Department of Mathematics participates in the undergraduate programme for mathematics fields of study that focuses on computer science, physics and statistics.

Objectives

  • To instruct students accurately in developing mathematical proofs, solutions, and interpretations for problems.
  • To advance students’ awareness of the broad significance and growing demand for mathematics in all fields of science and technology.
  • To help students develop a mode of analytical thinking that can be applied to any subject.
  • To introduce students to the crucial areas of modern mathematics and their applications.
  • To develop rigorous analytic reasoning skills and practical problem-solving skills and strategies.
  • To prepare students to address challenging real-world problems arising in diverse areas of sciences and multidisciplinary fields.
  • To explore and implement a variety of mathematical applications through an interdisciplinary approach.
  • To encourage students to pursue higher studies leading to research.
  • To motivate students to pursue careers involving the application of advanced mathematics.

Careers:

Math graduates may work in academia as math teachers or researchers and work in diverse industries and business roles as computer programmers, software developers, data scientists,  and other roles.
