DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY

The Department of Zoology seeks to instil high moral standards while providing a solid education in animal sciences through teaching, research, and learning.  The  Department instils in its students the highest values of life, a respect for nature, and a sound acquisition of knowledge in animal sciences through quality educational practices and research.

Objectives:

  • To provide a solid education in fundamental animal science.
  • To nurture and foster knowledge and skills of students in all aspects of animals.
  • To develop infrastructure and implement tools and techniques in areas related to animal science.
  • To provide students with transformative, holistic and value-centered immersive learning experiences.
  • To conduct high-quality research projects in multiple animal science disciplines and  publish research papers.
  • To develop trained and responsible personnel and competent zoologists.
  • To teach students animal morphology, anatomy, physiology, molecular biology and biotechnology to become excellent naturalists and environmentalists.
  • To educate the public about animal welfare, conservation and biodiversity protection.
  • To raise awareness about environmental protection and animal conservation.
  • To preserve fauna and flora in order to promote environmental protection.

Careers in zoology rely on animals and their biological processes.  B.Sc. in zoology graduates can look forward to excellent employment opportunities in a variety of well-known fields, including educational institutions, veterinary hospitals, health care providers, testing laboratories, aquariums, forest services, environmental management and conservation, wastewater plants, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology industry, space research institutes, and entrepreneurship in sericulture, apiculture, aquaculture, poultry, pig farming, feed and manure production and others.
